Product Tested:
Kryptonite Evolution Mini.
First Impressions and Comments:
I thought this little lock was cute. It reminded me of the Heinken Keg Can. It also reminded me of Dr. Evil and Mini-Me.
Other than that, the lock, on first impression looked sturdy enough. The steel construction looked and felt solid. It wasn’t too heavy either.
Options:
No options at all other than the option mounting the lock on any part of your bike. I’ve mounted my on the rear triangle right below the left side of the V-brake.
Strengths:
-Strong
-Small
-Easy to Mount
-Vinyl Coating Protects my bike
-Multiple Keys (5 in total)
Weaknesses:
-Small, the U part only allows me to lock my frame.
-Rattles during transport (while mounted to my bike)
Summary:
I thought that his lock wasn’t too bad. It was a bit small, but then again you can always use an additional cable to wrap your tires around. I liked the mounting, you can put it on any part of your bike. I also liked the think vinyl coating to protect my paint job.
I was told that I needed to make sure that it passes the “Bic Pen” test before using it. But luckily this model is a new one where it uses a different key set and tumbler to prevent theft by Bic.
