Live in New York City? Ever wondered what the safest route is between where you are and where you want to go?
Check out RideTheCity.com. It’s a mash-up application based on Google Maps that uses several different data points to help you safely find your way through the city by bike.
From the site:
Ride the City finds the shortest distance between two points. But there are two major differences. First, RTC excludes roads that aren’t meant for biking, like the BQE and the Queens Midtown tunnel. Second, RTC tries to locate routes that maximize the use of bike lanes and greenways.
Since I don’t live in New York City it’s hard for me to test this application.
If you’re in NYC, give it a whirl and let us know what you think in the comments.
