Biking: Masters is North Conway's triathlete librarian

The upstairs office wall says it all.
Next to all those racing bibs like Crank the Kanc, Mooseman Triathlon, Wildcat Biathlon, Danskin, Joe Jones Pentathlon and Freedom Triathlon, is an ad about libraries. It reads: “She’s not your typical librarian.”

Masters, 40, is a competitive triathlete. She’s also a reader, hiker, runner, skier and biker. Swimmer too. Not only that, the woman who might recommend the latest thriller is a board certified physician specializing in internal medicine with a Ph.D. in clinical pharmacology.
So how does a doctor from Germany come to be North Conway’s library director?
She got burnt out from 80-hour work weeks and decided to come to America in 1999, landing a job at a Cape Cod bike shop.
“I wanted to do something with either bikes or books,” she said.
