If warm weather and $2.30 per gallon of gas aren’t enough to get you riding your bike to work, how about free breakfast, free lunch and a chance to win a mountain bike? The New Mexico Department of Transportation and the Bicycle Coalition of New Mexico are promoting Bike to Work Day Friday with a variety of events around town.
And parents, are your little ones itching to take off the training wheels? Bring them to the Bike Bonanza at Gonzales Elementary School on Saturday, where they can learn about bike-handling skills, changing flats and eating right.
Bike to Work Day: If you’re biking to work and wearing a helmet, stop in at one of four local businesses for free breakfast treats. The following shops are participating: Travel Bug, 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.; Santa Fe Baking Co., 7 to 8:30 a.m.; Cloud Cliff Bakery, 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.; and Sun Mountain Bike Company, 8 to 10 a.m. Sun Mountain also is offering free bike inspections.
