Adventure Storytelling Series #5 – SiiHasin Bike Projects + Rez Gravel

November 5 @ 6:00 pm 9:00 pm

Come learn more about SiiHasin Bike Projects and Rez Gravel

This collaborative community event is co-hosted by SiiHasin, RezGravel, Roadrunner Bikes and Campfire Cycling.

Come join us Tuesday November 5th at 6:00 PM at Borderlands Brewing Co. 119 E. Toole Ave (1 block from Campfire Cycling). We will be screening a short film about SiiHasin Bike Projects and having a Q&A with community leaders Claudia Jackson and Elisha Bishop.

The event is donation based and all proceeds will be donated to SiiHasin Bike Projects: Donate Here!

SiiHasin Bike Project is led by Dinè (Navajo Nation) tribal member Claudia Jackson. Claudia started cycling in 2012 and has gotten increasingly involved with cycling community in the southwest region of the Navajo Nation ever since. She started Audical Cycles bike shop in Indian Wells, multiple youth bike clubs, and leads multi day bike tours. Through SiiHasin, Claudia organized the first Tour de SiiHasin event, a ride to raise suicide awareness and build strong community in the Navajo Nation. The Tour is now in its 12th year! In their own words, “the SiiHasin Bike Projects aims to positively support the healthy development of our youth and community members on the Navajo Nation… we aim to create a community that will empower our participants through the sport, emphasize the importance of goal-setting, promote healthy lifestyles, and recognizes the positive effect of K’e.”

Rez Gravel is led by Gila River Community tribal member Elisha Bishop. Elisha has been spreading the joy of bikes and leading rides in the Gila River Community since 2021, and has since hosted many community rides including two big RezGravel events. Elisha is a rider for Ride for Racial Justice as well as an ambassador for BikePacking Roots, and is an accomplished backcountry tourer. If you haven’t experienced Rez Gravel yet, it is much more than a ride – it’s a community event with a strong connection to place and people. We’re stoked to know Elisha and have been fortunate enough to participate in Rez Gravel. You can send extra donations to Elisha and Rez Gravel Here to help support his work.

These two incredible community leaders found each other at Tour de SiiHasin, where Elisha was inspired to start community rides on his own lands.

Please Support Borderlands Brewing Co. since they let us use their patio by ordering food and drinks. They have a food truck on site (order at the bar) as well as Non Alcoholic beverages, beer, wine, and margaritas.

We are on O’Odham land.

This is an all-ages event although alcohol may be present.

The event is capped at 120 people so register today!
