Perfect companion for your Ortlieb handlebar bag! Allows the mounting of additional accessories (lights, GPS) which would normally be obstructed by the Ultimate 6 bag.


Overview

The multifunctional two part mounting support creates additional space on the handlebar, e.g. for light, navigation device or e-bike display. The set consists of a left and right support; it can be mounted as a pair or individually.

The supports are adjustable in height and allow simultaneous use of a battery light and an Ultimate handlebar bag.

    Ortlieb Handlebar Mounting-Set Extension

    These things give me a nice "dashboard" to attach my front light and bell. It raises the light over the front Ortlieb handlebar bag so it can be seen. I like how it integrates with Ortlieb mount.

    It definitely works!

    I have used the Ortlieb Ultimate 6 light mount for a few weeks now and offer the following observations: 1. It definitely works as advertised. With the h-bar bag clipped in, it’s best to have the posts in a higher setting to reduce the shadow caused by the bag. I had originally hoped to mount it below the handlebar but, there’s some interference with the brake and shift cables. I’m using Paul cantilevers. So, there’s interference from the cable hanger (Funky Monkey) too. 2. It’s a little fumbly to install but, with a little dexterity and practice, it can be done repeatedly and timely. 3. I had originally hoped to leave it installed on the mounting bracket but, it looks a little goofy when no lights or the bag are attached. 4. For that reason, I keep it stuffed into a bag and only deploy when needed (we’ll before it gets dark). 5. Campfire Cycling is one of the very few retailers where you can find obscure Ortlieb parts and do-dads. They’re definitely one of the best, if not the best, online retailers specializing in cycle touring.

    Ortlieb Ultimate 6 Extension

    I wanted to find a way to mount a light on my handlebars with the Ortlieb Ultimate 6. I was able to do so, but the light needs to sit pretty high & feels a little akward for city use (especially when the bag is removed). Maybe it is ok for bikepackers. I have the Bontrager Ion RT light. The extension needs to be positioned at its highest setting for the light to sit properly & clear the bag & it shakes a little from road vibration (so the light beam hitting the road is constantly shaking). I ended up getting a $7 Bontrager silicon mount & putting the light on my front fork.

    Ortlieb Extenders

    I haven't installed the extenders yet. Winter in Cleveland isn't the best time to bicycle on the road so my trusty Long Haul Trucker is on a resistance trainer is a spare bedroom. Hence there's no great rush to mount the new bag or extenders. My compliments to Campfire for filling and shipping the goods in a timely manner.
