Ortlieb has taken the best futures of their Bike Roller Plus panniers and combined them with all the things you would want in an office bag that mounts to your racks, including a spot for you computer and organizers for pens, pencils and other office goodies. The Office Bag is waterproof and includes two partitioned inner liners. The Office Large Plus comes with either the QL2.1 or QL3 system, read below for more information.

QL2.1 System: This system is similar to the QL2 in many ways but differs slightly in a few areas. The upper rail has been slightly changed, rather than having 3 independent parts the rail is 1 piece for additional strength. The reduction inserts no longer attach from the mouth of the top hook but rather from the side, and they are available in 8mm, 10mm 12mm and 16mm. The lower anchor doesn’t have the elliptical rail but rather a slightly padded horizontal rail which does a nice job of protecting the finish on the vertical stays on the rack. This is limited to only the White and Black Logo Panniers.

QL3 System: This system features a new style of mounting component that removes the mounting hardware from the bag and attaches it to the rack. This component is fully adjustable both for heal clearance and angle of your bag. The bag with the QL3 system now has a more flush back so it’s more comfortable to carry off the bike. The upper mounting clips have an auto lock so the bag stays securely mounted to the rack, simply pull the handle up to unlock the clips.

A weight lifted off of my shoulders

This bag appears to be the high quality that I expected. I am happy with the purchase. I typically use it mounted to a Axiom Mk 3 Alu Journey Uni - Fit rear rack that is attached using skewer mounts to a Haro Alley XC (The bike has disk brakes and no attachment points for a rack). The bag is very secure for normal commuting but does give my laptop a rougher ride than when using a backpack when dropping off of curbs and steps. The shoulder strap is surprisingly comfortable for such a square bag but I am not impressed that it attaches to the release of the QL3 system on one side. Having to roll the bag down is less convenient than many other types of closures but I have already been caught in heavy rain and appreciated that no water found its way into the bag. Attaching the mounting hardware to the rack was simple and quick. This bag is large and there is a removable structure that allows it to stand upright on its own when packing the bag keeps it square like a combination between a briefcase and a small suit case. Removing the structure from the inside of the bag makes it look and carry much more like a traditional bag at the expense of being able to stand up on its own for loading. If you are debating on sizing this bag is the perfect size for me to be able to work at multiple locations throughout the day. I have filled it with two laptops, chargers, external drives, a couple folders, t-shirt, rain jacket, water bottle, and a light lunch. Most days only half of those items are needed, but I needed a bag that could handle the heavy days too. I imagine that the medium would be much less suitcase like and am sure that I would prefer the thinner design if I could easily keep a second bag secure throughout the day. The large Office Bag is still much smaller than the backpack I was using with a more professional appearance. Most of all it is significantly more organized to work out of and prevents arriving with a sweaty back.
