Overview
The Bon Jon Pass is a remote pass on the Olympic Peninsula with a moderate gradient made up of a smooth gravel surface and chip-sealed asphalt. Renee Herse refer to the Bon Jon Pass TC as their “Goldilocks” roadbike tire and they do have a “just right” feel to them. If your bikepacking route is going to be a mix of gravel roads and pavement, these tires will reward you with high average cruising speeds.
Wider than the Stampede Pass(32 mm) but narrower than the Barlow Pass(38mm), the Bon Jon Pass measures 700C x 35 mm, offering an in-between width for all-road riding. You have the choice of two casings: the Standard casing strikes a balance between affordability, comfort and speed without compromising on durability, offering extra protection against sidewall cuts on sharp rocks. The Extralight casing on the other hand takes the performance, comfort and feel of your bike to an entirely new level.
Made in Japan, the Bon Jon Pass performs like a finely crafted katana and is an outstanding slick tire than can serve really well for those bikepacking trips that are largely pavement and urban tarmac.
