Overview
Commuters and bike tourists for whom versatility, durability and repairability are more important than weight, this is your front rack.
The Surly Front Rack has two levels for hanging panniers. Most people will want to use the lower tubing, but you’ll appreciate the option to adapt to road and trail conditions. And don’t be shy about using the platform. This rack can carry up to 70 pounds.
Adjusts to fit from 26″ to 29″ wheel wheel with or without fenders, including all Surly forks except the Pugsley fork and Moonlander forks (due to the offset of the Pugsley fork driveside blade and the width of the Moonlander fork).
The main body of is made of tubular CroMoly steel. In the rare instance that this rack breaks, you should be able to find, even in the most remote regions of planet Earth, somebody to TIG, MIG, stickweld, braze or solder this rack back together. An aluminum rack won’t afford you the same luxury.
The stock rack and hardware is designed to fit front racks mount to forks with mid-blade eyelets – about 165mm from the dropout. Most quality touring forks have these. Additional hardware maybe needed to accommodate other forks.
