About Me:
I like beer, bikes and buffets. I am your typical weekend warrior and occasional racer. I look for the same things as most guys would in bikes and accessories, "as long as it works and its affordable!"
Product Tested: Ergon Performance Grips
First Impressions and Comments: I was given the small pair by Steve Boemke (Ergon’s PR Man). When I first got them, I was a bit skeptical. First of all. it looked pretty unique and I didn’t think much of it. My immediate thought was that my whole hand wouldn’t be able to grab the grip. The installation was super easy, no fuss there. Grips are actually very comfortable.
Strengths: Where do I begin? As I’ve mentioned already, these grips are very comfortable. They are so comfy, that I forgot that I was even using them. When gripping them, my fingers doesn’t actually go all the way around the grips. The only finger that grabs the whole thing was my thumb (Just look at the picture).
Weaknesses: Um….None! There is nothing negative about these grips. Every time I am on the trail, I tell people, “Go on, grab it!” and once they do, they immediately know why I love these grips.
Summary:
Overall, I was very surprised by these grips and was amazed on their performance. I thought that I would have a hard time using these grips due to its shape. But I was proven wrong in a split second. Once I mounted my bike, and grabbed on, these grips were kinda like a nice soft pillowy bed for my hands. Ok, pillowy may sound too fluffy, but seriously! These grips are so amazing! I couldn’t believe how well they contoured to my hands and how rested my hands were even while I was going down some switch backs in Turnbull Canyon.
Would I recommend it? Heck yeah I would! There’s no reason for me to tell people not to get these! Everyone that has tried them on my bike absolutely loves them! Again, I TOTALLY RECOMMEND ERGON GRIPS! But if you do, you may want to get the “women’s” or “small” sizes. Unless you have super large banana hands, then go for the large. But what I tested are the small size.
The Ergon Grips are far more superior to any grips I’ve ever ridden with and probably better than the ones you have on your bike now. Make sure you go to your LBS and check them out.
