Hey, kids, it’s that time of year again to dust off the bike, pump up the tires, and ride that bike. 2007 is the 51st anniversary of National Bike Month.
I’ve already hung posters promoting Bike To Work Day around my office building and encouraged other bike commuters to do the same. If you need promotional material, ask your local cycling advocacy group what they have available.
The League of American Bicyclists has also published a Bike Month Organizer’s Kit available to download here as a PDF. While a lot of the planning should be done already, this guide will help you with a few things you can try beginning now.
In much of the U.S., May is the Month to encourage your co-workers to ride. With concerns about the environment as well as gasoline prices, it’s more accepted than ever to Commute By Bike. Don’t forget to point your friends to resources like the Gas Savings calculator in the sidebar and the Commuting 101 series here at CBB.
