Happy New Year to everyone and I am looking forward to being one of the new members of the Commute by Bike team, just like Jeff.
I sometimes like to think of the beginning of the year as a time to start things fresh, sort of a clean slate. Not really setting any resolutions, I don’t like that term, but more about giving myself some new responsibilities and taking on new challenges.
Today for example, I took the first step on one of my challenges for 2008, to Commute by Bike at least three days a week no matter the weather. Seattle had one of our typical winter days with a constant light rain that is just heavy enough to discourage you from getting out the front door, but I had committed myself to actually riding today and once I got going it was not that bad. It helped that I had planned the night before got everything prepped, packed my clothes, made my lunch, picked out the riding clothes and had everything waiting.. Also, I have a new bike that is the culmination of about six months of planning, research, finding the right parts, and just begging to be ridden. I’ll be posting more info about the bike and my choice of equipment through out the year as I figure out what is working and what is not.
Hopefully my mistakes, and I am sure that there will be some, can help make things easier and more people will decide to get out of cars and Commute by Bike.
