Danny sent in these images of his DIY Bike Trailer. It looks like quite the configuration, specifically the utilization of the the seat post mounted bike rack as a mounting point for the bike trailer’s hitch bracket. While it is tough to say how reliable and safe this setup would be, we would certainly give Danny an A for creative use of available materials.
Here is what Danny has to say about his trailer:
“Built from electrical conduit and hose clamps, mostly. The tongue is scavenged palate wood.
At first, it wobbled and fishtailed. If I let the fishtailing go too far, it would flip. In the process of flipping it about six times, I noted that the hitch remained intact and functional. Also, the frame didn’t deform.
After tilting the wheels inward at the top, it stopped the shimmy and hasn’t flipped since.
Next steps are refinements, and there are many of those needed. However, on a 124-mile test outing/camping trip, she has stopped being a bunch of parts and become my road-worthy companion.”
