Streetfilms recently did a nice feature on New York City, which focuses on the city’s efforts to develop complete streets. A complete street, as the film’s title suggests, is more than just about adding bike lanes. Complete streets are streets that are built to accommodate all of the users of a street, be they pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, and public transit users, as well as people of all ages and abilities. In general, the New York City complete street redesign efforts appear to be positive for a broad subset of the community. If there are any readers from the NYC area, I’m interested to hear your opinions on the different areas featured in the video. What do you think about the new complete streets effort in NYC? Or if you aren’t from NYC and haven’t seen the complete streets efforts there, are there any similar efforts where you live and what do you think about them?Complete Streets: It’s About More Than Just Bike Lanes from Streetfilms on Vimeo.
